Question / Help Using OBS mic filtering with Slack?

Hi!

I currently work in a room that contains a window unit and it's a pretty loud. Currently I have to shut it off when I get on a conference call. I found OBS to potentially use filtering to help remove some of this ambient noise.

I do most of my communication on the Slack application using a Blue Snowball mic but it still pics up the noise. I'm really new to OBS. Is there a way for me to use the mic filtering live without connecting to an official stream source?

If you have something like Virtual Audio Cables instead, you could conceivably set OBS monitor output to go to a virtual output and then have Slack use that as an input, but I haven't tried that.

You might be better off just getting a cheap or free VST host application, adding some noise gates/compressors to that, and using that to run a virtual input for Slack, assuming Slack lacks those features.
