Using OBS for Theatre... Please help!

lshatix> Yes. The actors in studio need to hear the Zoom actors when they interact with each other. The normal latency that occurs via Zoom is acceptable. The issue is the in-studio mics are picking up the Zoom actors that being fed into the studio. Because of the slight delay (latency), in the final streaming mix, the Zoom actors voices are doubled creating an echo effect. If the in studio actors had in-ear monitors, then the echoing wouldn't occur. Professional in-ear monitors are cost prohibitive as we would need about a dozen of them. I explored possibly using bluetooth ear buds as in-ear monitors but bluetooth is a one-to-one relationship. It's not possible to have several bluetooth receivers receive the same signal from one bluetooth transmitter. If the 'gate' approach doesn't work, an alternative might be to use a local FM transmitter and have the actors wear portable FM receivers (like joggers might typically use) with wired earbuds. Much more cost effective.

Yes...I'm aware there is delay in using Bluetooth. In my case I would need 12 transmitters and splitting the signal to feed 12 transmitters would be a problem. That's why I'm looking at a local FM transmitter as an alternative. No delay either. Just need a portable FM radio/receiver. Some recent (but not current generation) of Android phones have FM receivers built-in.....but only Android. Apple products dont.
