Question / Help Using Facebook Live with Camera

Hello,

I was recording an event for my university on a Facebook Live stream. My video and audio were completely off sync.

I tried changing to 44.1 to 48Khz in my H4nPro and in OBS, but changed nothing. Had to rely on the camera's on-board mic in the end.

Connected my Soy a6500 through HDMI and Thunderbolt to a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder
My camera settings were 1080p30 and the Sony can only output 1080i60 from HDMI. That's what the Blackmagic was receiving. For audio I plugged the microphones on-stage microphnoes through XLR to my H4nPro settings were 44.1 to the computer, when the problems started I unplugged everything, restarded stream and it was much worst! Stutter audio and everything. Had to un-plug entirely, changed to 48Khz. Gave up and changed it to camera's microphone, which was awful but at least worked somewhat.

OBS received all signals, plugged wireless to the connection. Below are logs from OBS.

For a complete log you need to start and stop a stream-- there's no stream attempt in this log.

OBS 0.16.2 is positively ancient. Upgrade to the latest. No need to be using 0.16.2 unless you're on MacOS 10.9 or older.

Hey there, thanks for your help. Attached you can find all the logs or a bunch of stream tests to facebook with lots of different settings. I've updated to the latest OBS for sure—there was an error in that old version that always made me believe I was on the latest version. Basically it was not updating. Now on 20.1.0 (mac) Same problem with Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle and MiniRecorder. I stopped using the H4n cause I thought it would work from the camera audio, but the results are the same. I have better luck now getting it in sync, but it's hit and miss.

It's better for sure on wired ethernet. Stopped wifi use altogether. It's also better when there aren't graphics involved. Yet, it will always at some point or another go off sync.

As a workaround, can you use an external microphone plugged into the camera?

Thanks, the last few tests were actually using a microphone plugged into the camera. I stopped using the H4n altogether to troubleshoot. The Sony FS700 pro camera has it's own microphone connections. The problem persists. The logs from Nov 28 were all using this camera. Video drifts behind audio all the time, and sometimes randomly goes back in sync. Definitely better than the first time I posted the question, but I am not finding a solution or even a reason.
