Over the last year, we've cobbled together a live stream setup at our church and all things considered, it works pretty good. Currently, video is provided by a quartet of fixed GoPro Hero4s that through four cheap HDMI capture cards into a refurbished HP workstation and into OBS. For audio, we tapped into a post-amp output from the church's sound system (the same signal that powers the speakers) through an XLR cable to a TASCAM US-32 and into OBS.
This current setup is stable and while the cameras aren't ideal, it works. The audio part is what I want to improve. Levels are set up to work in the room, but through the live stream I can only control the master volume of the output from that sound system. What I would like to do is be able to control when each mic is on, and pair a mic or mics as sources with cameras for individual scenes. I've been looking at the Behringer UMC1820 as a possible replacement for the current auto interface, as it has USB connectivity and can be controlled through software. My current alternative is to change levels at the sound system, which is conveniently 1) at the front of the sanctuary, and 2) no where near the rest of the live stream station.
Has anyone had luck virtually controlling audio sources in this way through OBS? Is this even doable?
