Use audio sync offset (delay) in monitoring

Hi,

I use Blackmagic video capture card with OBS. It adds a ~90ms delay to the video that I'm able to fix with my audio inputs using the sync offset (delay) field in "Advanced audio properties" of the Mixer.

That fixes the recording and streaming sync problems. But when I use and headset to check the sync of the video and sound using the monitor options of the mixer, the delay is not applied. The sound gets out directly.

I would suggest to apply the same delay to the monitoring that way you instantly can check for sync issues.

Maybe via a checkbox if someone needs it instantly.

Thanks.

+1

was hoping to be able to only have to listen to 1 mix instead of having to go back and forth between my mixer and streaming PC, even if that meant a slight audio delay

It's absurd that we cannot monitor the output stream with audio offset(s) applied. But, the checkbox idea doesn't pan out because there can be multiple audio sources having different offsets in advanced properties. Same with an audio offset adjustment on the monitored audio. I think the only solution is to capture the audio after delays and other effects are applied. My two cents.

FWIW, with or without audio sync offsets, the monitored audio is somewhat behind live audio. In other words, it doesn't sync with the live audio or camera sources. So, unless audio and video originate from the same source, monitoring the OBS audio has little value.

After some thought, would it not be possible to add "output stream" as one of the choices for monitoring device in audio settings? I'd be quite happy to sacrifice selective monitoring of some, but not other, audio devices if all unmuted audio sources were included in the monitor output with their sync offsets applied.
