USB Video Capture - Start up

Hi

I'm attempting to sort / edit / digitise my collection of VHS video tapes which have been in my loft for 30 years. My Bush Video player works satisfactorily althought it only has 1 Scart socket for output. Ive tested it with a TV and the quality of my videos are pretty reasonable.

Ive also got a new USB Video capture gadget and using a Scart plug adapter with Red, white and yellow conectors. Ive linked the VCR to my PC and downloaded the software from 'obs' using their instructions.

When switched on my PC showed that the gadget was updating Ok.

My main issue is despite all being apparently connected satisfactorily the display window screen is just black and although Ive trialled a brief "record" not surprisingly the playback shows a black screen. I did of course press play on the VCR prior to the trial 'record'.

Ive been on line and viewed instructions regarding ways around the issue but to no avail. Not sure if its security and privacy settings but Ive tried it on a laptop and same issue. The laptop allowed the software to record on the in built cam without issue so the software is fine. Im using Windows 10 so this should be ok for my purpose.

Im a rank amateur with regard to this type of thing so instructions in words of one syllable would be useful for me.

Any help to get things rolling would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

DRobert
