Question / Help USB Capture loses video

I started out with OBS for Windows, I'm on multiplatform now, so I'm restarting this thread over here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/fighting-bsod.38646/

I fixed the BSOD issue with the Sabrent STK1160 USB capture card by using an x86 driver instead of an x64.

With the Sabrent STK1160: OK, so if I remove all sources from the current project, close OBS, reopen OBS, and add the sabrent card as the first source, it will show video. If I open OBS with another project set up, remove those sources, and add the sabrent, it's still black. I have to add it as a new source as the first source in a new session.

So I amazon Prime'd a Hauppauge USB Live 2.

Hauppauge USB Live 2 (Hauppauge Cx23100 device) Came in.

It does the same thing that the sabrent card does. When i close and reopen OBS, I lose the video input but audio is still there. If i close again and reopen, video comes back. So now it's intermittent rather than all the time. Which I will take as an improvement.

But I spoke too soon, and after a computer restart, it does the same thing as the Sabrent card. Both LEd's light up on the unit, but no video is recognized in OBS MP.

Is there something to look at or a setting to poke?

Thanks.

Long story short, the issue is that when I close OBS and reopen it, the source is there in the list, but not in the preview window. Audio works, but no video. I have to remove all sources, close OBS MP, reopen OBS MP, and add the sources back for it to work. I had the same issue on OBS original version.
