Occasionally, while recording videos with OBS, I go back to look a the file after I finish recording for, say, 2 hours and the file size is only 192 mb or something. When I open it up, it doesn't play past a certain point, and when I use ffmpeg to change the .mkv to .mp4, it gives me something called a "read error".
This is really detrimental, as hours of work go down the drain, and I really need to fix this problem.
Recording specs:
Format: MKV
Audio Tracks: 1-3
Encoder: x264
Rescale Output: 1920x1080
Rate Control: CRF
CRF: 14
CPU Preset: veryfast
Audio Bitrate (for all three tracks): 320
Files record to my E: drive, an external HDD with 2tb of storage.
Thing is, this also happens irregularly. Just now, I split a recording session into two different recordings (stopped recording, then started again, so 2 files). First one was fine, other one had the problem. I also did a 1hr long, continuous recording yesterday that also had the problem.
I really love what I do, but it's so difficult to do when all your work gets randomly flushed away. Please help.
