hello everyone

i,m trying to capture some old home video with obs , while i have no problem recording hi 8 and digital 8 , the video 8 tapes just dont sync right (showing video but shaking realy hard ) i tried playing with fps setting but this did not help.

i have used 2 diferent camera,s with the same result logs showing obs seems to have problems decoding the video (link to the ) logs
in my opinion this is a bit wierd, being that video 8 and hi 8 are both analog signals and send by the same camera ( it is recorded on a different tape so that could also be it)
if i connect the camera to the tv the image is fine.

i hope someone can help me.

It might be sent from the same camera, but if the sync signal is on the tape (there has to be *something* there for the camera to play it) and the camera just passes it through, that could explain why the different tape with the same camera doesn't work.

For why the TV likes it and the capture card doesn't, different devices have different sensitivities to that sync signal. And there are variations in how the sync works in the first place. If the TV works with all of the variations and the capture card only wants a specific one, or if the TV tries harder to pick out a bad sync and succeeds where the capture card gives up, that would explain that too.

I'd try a different capture device. Maybe a different brand, and maybe even a different price point, to try and get a completely different design inside.
