Bug Report Unable to hear audio from Media Source

Hello!

I am producing some content for my podcast and I am unable to hear sound from media sources in OBS / playback through my PC. My stream can hear the sound but I am unable to.

From Twitter some people have told me this is by design.

Is this true? If so what is the thought process behind that? Or is this going to be updated?

Essentially what I want to do is watch game / movie trailers or what have you with my stream. They can hear it but I cannot which is a pretty huge problem if I am going to be commenting on the media.

I see you can use the web browser to add a file but that does not work either.

Currently I am using a work around to monitor capture, use studio mode before switching to scene, full screen on window, then transition. Which is a bit of a headache when you have 10+ videos to watch I need to have each youtube video loaded, paused and ready to go. Rather than having the media file in OBS muted.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much.

I know you must be very busy Jim, but I would think that media source monitoring for the streamer is of paramount importance.
This very issue is what is stopping a lot of streamers from using OBSS.
Just installed 0.15.0 and still no go with monitoring.

Any idea when it will be implemented Please Jim ??

That feature would make this a complete studio solution- I second this request. I would like to use it not only for streaming and recording, but for presentations and you already have the ability to send the video output to a second screen (like a projector for instance), and the audio output to a PA system would make that work great...

+1 needs fast fix, essential for streaming

I read on IRC that this feature is held back by XSplit, so they finance obs to delay features, is that actually the case?
Well i guess if it is true you cant tell us anyway, but it would explain why this essential feature is delayed.
