Hey,

can anyone tell me if it is possible to record a screen with a UHD resolution without problems?
I don´t have the right equipment (PC Tower with i7 Quad/16GB Ram/SSD/gtx1070 Geforce + UHD Screen) yet to test it.

My intend is not to record gaming, but Videos via VLC-Player and a streamed Video from a 4K videocamera.
I did find someone who had problems with too much VLC and gaming so I think in the end I have to test the performance abilitites of the system on my new hardware. Perhaps anyone else has some expierence though, espacially with the UHD resoultion and videos.

Thank you,
Best,

Philipp

If you're using NVENC on a 750TI, or 9x0-series (or later), then you can record 4k with no CPU load in OBS. VLC can usually play those files without trouble.

As to getting a stream from a 4k Camera, it depends on the codec in use, and if your network pipe is big enough to handle it reliably.

Basically it's as you noted, you're gonna have to test whatever it is you're doing to actually know if it'll work, but with the right combination of codecs and software it should be possible.
