Bug Report Ubuntu PPA needs wily (15.10) packages (<48 hours until wily release)

Hi folks, I'm on the wily RC right now and I of course can't install OBS from the PPA as packages for wily have not been built yet.

I imagine a lot of people will upgrade to 15.10, which will break their OBS installs as the PPA will no longer work.

Thanks! :)

I can confirm that the PPA will still work if you manually change the distribution back to vivid after upgrading. (3rd-party repositories are disabled after upgrading anyway, so there won't be any immediate problem)

However, OBS no longer records properly on Ubuntu 15.10. Any recording attempt crashes the program with the message "Couldn't initialize muxer"

afaik you can't (At least on Xubuntu 15.10)

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
obs-studio : Depends: libx264-142 but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Maybe you have an old libx264-142 installed, which isn't available any more in wily?

For Wily (15.10) it's libx264-146 version.

In my case, I'm forced to stream from windows, pending the wily version.

In Ubuntu, you can change the distribution in the Software and Updates panel. I'm not sure where it would be in Xubuntu, but I'm guessing it'll be in the software center somewhere. As far as the libx264-142, it is no longer available in Wily. It has been replaced with the newer libx264-146. However, you can still manually install it by downloading the Trusty version from the Ubuntu Packages website.

Just an FYI, I just tried the unstable PPA, and everything is working fine. I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before the changes get pushed to the stable branch.
