Question / Help Two usb capture cards simultaneously

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone ever tried to use two USB 3.0 capture cards at the same time to record two independent things. Currently i have a GoPro hooked up to my avermedia live gamer extreme, but in the future I would like to add another one from a different angle.

Then I would like to record both cameras individually as separate mp4 files... I guess that would only work with 2 instances of OBS running at the same time. Has anyone ever tried something like that?

I know it's been a while since you asked, but figured I'd answer since there wasn't something else from someone else. I am not a big AV guy, but need to do some of this stuff for work. I've found that you can do a USB3 and a USB2, but getting two USB3 devices to work has been a no go for me. I've got an Elgato HD60S and bought an Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme for work. I can get one or the other, but not both at the same time. I've seen on another search or two that possibly having the two devices on separate USB3 buses might help, but I've just been working with my laptop and haven't had a chance to try that yet.
