Tuf Gaming Capture disconnecting/freezing while recording help!

Hello everyone,

I am TOTALLY new to this, so bear with me. I am starting a youtube channel to record some COD using a capture device. I originally bought the EVGA XR1 Lite, HOWEVER, because my tv supports 120hz and I have been gaming on COD using the 120hz, it had to drop it to accomodate the XR1 Lite and I could not play....the unit seemed to work, i recorded 7 seconds of video and audio with a mic, but I can't confirm it wouldn't do this freeze thing if I actually recorded a match.
Back to today, I got the ASUS tuf gaming which allowed me to use the 120hz refresh. Problem is, when it's on the preview screen mimicking the tv, eventually obs just sort of stops the feed, the little video capture card bars go dead and the preview screen freezes at whatever point, almost immediately actually. I think it recorded like 5 seconds before freezing/dropping. I am not streaming, just recording.
The weird part is if I go into the settings and change anything in the resoluting/fps type, it all of a sudden gets connected again and shows the screen, but will freeze shortly after, which I find odd that it reconnects itself. I am using an extended USB wire, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, my tv is kinda far from my computer, but in the same room.
Now, is this a hardware issue/software issue? My computer is built by myself, 16 gigs of ram, a really good motherboard, hard drive, everything but a dedicated GPU (using the processor's graphics).

Are you capturing the same PC you are recording? In this case, don't use a capture device. Use game capture instead. Game capture is way less resource demanding than reading a capture device. You use a capture device if you want to record some external device such as a gaming console.

I totally forgot to mention what the hell I was using.
This is for an xbox series x to my computer using the tuf gaming capture device. does my computer need a better GPU than using the integrated graphics through the processor? it will freeze while not even recording too, just watching the screen. then like i said, if i go to settings and change anything, it reactivates and shows the screen again working...then will freeze after a few seconds.

ok guys, I think I got it working, but would like some input for settings.
I don't think the processor's integrated graphics could run everything...it was running at like 60-80%.
So I got a nvidia geforce 1660 ti graphics card to use and everything is running smoother and only at like 5% CPU now.

But it still froze at one point. I changed some settings regarding encoding? It seemed to not freeze at all, I think I will do a test recording tonight. But any insight for general settings would help!
