Hi,
I try to use OBS Studio to live streaming video on Facebook using the API that found in Facebook, server URL and stream key to insert into stream as custom stream but it is still detecting as failed to connect server and the facebook page is been verified. So not sure where the problem. Kindly advise. Thanks:)

Considering the OBS update check is also failing, something is blocking OBS from accessing the internet.

Ok. Yesterday I try on my another laptop and my home network, both Facebook and OBS can detect each other server but on Facebook preview is in black screen and no image. Beside that can OBS used DSLR for the streaming?
Thanks:)

Hello everybody :)
I've a similar issue, but OBS seems to be connected correctly to Facebook API Url.
Just in the facebook preview page, nothing happened: it's "OFFLINE" even after 4/5 minutes after streaming starting.... but streaming seems OK in OBS windows and started...
I've seen in speedtest website my uplink rate is : 0.70 Mbps : that could be the root cause ?
If you have any idea... :)

I was able to go live with my current DJ setup that was made for twitch.. what I did was use the 2 part stream key from facebook to go live. Only thing that sucks though is facebook can randomly kick you off at random times.. 1st time I was able to go live for 30 min, then did another 30min.. the next day, I got disconnected after just a few minutes, then was able to stream for almost an hour..

Their website says you can stream "up to 90 minutes" which I have yet to try. The thing that sucks though, is facebook gives you a stream key EVERY time you go live, so even if facebook ends your stream, you have to get a new key, then reenter it in OBS.. kinda tedious imo.

I know it'll get better eventually, but just sucks that it disconnects you at randoms times and you have to redo everything..

facebook.com/itsdjflip <-- one of the past broadcast should be in there

I havent had any luck with getting passed the preview part. Just always says offline.

@GamingWithGF can you elaborate on the 2 part key. I assume you mean the URL and key separate vs the one that's combined?

I haven't tried the combined key as my "key" will maybe try that when I'm at the computer later.

Hope to get it working by Wednesday because I have a production airing episode 1 with local singer that has 2 mil + likes on their pages

You're correct, it's the URL with the separated Key. Also change your keyframe to 2sec, since that's what FB prefers.
What I literally did was use our current twitch setup, and just changed the URL and Key to match FB's and I was good to go.. You can tell if a feed is going as soon as you go live on OBS since it previews your stream before you click "Go Live" on FB.

Is this fix working for everyone? I am still experiencing the offline issue, and I've just about tried every troubleshooting step possible. OBS and fb servers seem to make a solid connection every time Facebook hands me a new stream key, however, preview remains offline which results in not being able to go live on fb. I am using the latest OBS build for Windows 7 and using the url and key for my custom broadcast settings along with all the recommended settings. I've also setup port forwarding on my router for rtmp port 1935 to forward to my broadcast pc, still no luck. Can anyone confirm if this has been solved? Thanks!!!

We would need to see log files of everyone to say more, in Evelyn's case it seemed to be a connection problem.

I added a resource with the steps for OBS-Studio to stream to Facebook Live, including a video:
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/how-to-stream-to-facebook-live.391/
And the general info page from facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/live

If you have general questions, post in the discussion of the resource, and if you have "technical" problems, start a thread in the appropriate OBS-Studio forums section please.

What is the status of this problem...that being the error "Failed to connect to server" when attempting to connect to Facebook LIVE. From all the threads here and across the internet it seems the issue lies with the OBS software itself. I have tried connecting using XSplit with no issues.

Are the OBS developers aware of this issue and is a fix in the works?
