So, I've put together a brand new computer this weekend. It's an i7-11700K LGA 1200 Intel CPU on an ASUS Prime H510M-K Intel Motherboard. I've got a 2TB Silicon Power NVMe M.2 2280 drive in it (that was pretty new to me. Pretty cool that all of my data in that much smaller SSD than what I'm used to). Anyway, it's also got a ASRock Radeon RX 6600 *GB PCI Express video card in it and finally 64GB of RAM.
So, what's happening?
Well, I can run Spotify or play my MP3 files perfectly fine on this new system. I can run OBS perfectly fine on this system. But when I try to do both, they don't like each other. Sort of like they're bumping heads. I've got everything connected to the motherboard correctly audio cable wise. There were only 3 wires in the 4 pin connector as I recall. I can look at that again in a bit. But that's connected to the Speaker connector on the MB.
I also have a brand new (but possibly faulty) mixer to throw into this mix. The mixer is going from the main output to the Line In port (light blue audio connector outside the case).
The OS I'm running is ArcoLinux (Downloaded Arconet at the beginning of the month. It's dated 24.5.11) and I'm running the Cinnamon Desktop on it for ease of use.
I can't really find any way to configure audio in Cinnamon so I'm kinda stuck at this point. But somewhere in the back of my head, I'm thinking I may need to plug the mixer output cable into the pink port (Microphone Port)? I don't know. The mixer thing is totally new to me. I'm learning it. But yeah, totally alien to me.
I'm just going from the mic outputs into 2 channels (Left and Right) into the PC. I wasn't intending on using a DAW like Ardour or something like that. If I have to use a DAW then I'll figure it out eventually. I was kind of hoping to plug in the USB from the mixer and the Main out from the mixer to the PC and run with it. But I've just hit all kinds of snags. Maybe the USB and the Main Out are bumping heads? No idea at this point.
If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong and can help, please let me know.
I'm wondering if pulseaudio is the problem (probably is come to think of it). I don't remember an option to select an audio sound server like pipewire or JACK. And now that I think of it, I'm thinking that's my issue. So, do I need to remove pulseaudio and install pipewire instead or can they both be installed? With my old PC, I remember reading that they can both be installed. I just need to disable pulseaudio and enable pipewire after I've installed it? Does that sound right?
