Question / Help Trying to record video with commentary

I have OBS setting up for streaming, but now want to record videos with my commentary. So I make a new scene and call it "Recording." I use the same game capture and for some reason the recording picks up my voice, but not the game or the desktop audio or both? I don't know. Can anyone help?

I've seen a couple thread similar to this, but no answers of any kind. Is there a patch being worked on? Does anyone have any ideas of what could be the problem?

I doubt anything is actually broken. Provide a screenshot of your advanced audio properties from the edit menu.

I click "start recording" and do a test. I play it back and I hear myself, but not the game. I have tried multiple games.

So I did another test and with Windows media player I got my voice and no game sound again and with VLC I got the game sound, but not my voice.

If you record a file with multiple audio tracks, I think no media player can stream all tracks simultaneously. Windows Media Player, MPC-HC, VLC, etc. output only one track at a time. You can playback multiple audio tracks in editting software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas and similar.

Around four years ago I use to record videos of my playing games and talking in them on OBS and it was never an issue. What happened?

If you want to be able to adjust game and commentary voice separately during editing, do nothing-- import the video into your editing software and go.

If you don't care about doing that, but absolutely must listen to both audio tracks together in VLC, put both devices on Track 1.
