Question / Help Troubleshooting Using Multiple Cameras To Livestream

Hello, I've been researching far and wide and trying things for weeks with no luck so far:

I'm trying to stream live DJ mixes with 4 Logitech C270 USB cameras showing different angles. (Audio coming out of DJ mixer and into microphone input on computer, so no audio from camera mics being used.)

The cameras don't always work. Sometimes when I start OBS, some of them do and some don't. I'll have to go into the Sources and reselect the camera and sometimes it will come back online. Also OBS often freezes up or reacts extremely slow when trying to make selections and update settings.

It seems to be a driver problem. I've installed the updated Logitech drivers. I've tried going into the Device Manager and changing the drivers to "USB Video Device" instead of the Logitech ones. I've tried using different USB ports with different cameras. I've tried buying Repeater Cables for the USB extensions instead of using regular USB extensions, I've tried plugging in all 4 cameras without using any USB extensions and nothing seems to work. And I'm using the most recent version of OBS. I've tried uninstalling OBS, clean installs of the Logitech software / drivers and nothing seems to work.

I've tried the entire set up on a 2nd desktop, and things work a little better, but it still has most of the same problems.

I'm using:
- HP Pavilion P6877 Desktop
- AMD Athlon II X4 645 3.10Ghz processor
- 16 Gigs of Ram
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- 64 bit Operating System
(All USB ports are 2.0)

A few times when I tried opening OBS, I would immediately get the blue screen of death.

My next step is to buy a whole new desktop and try that, but I'd hate to have to do that if I don't need to.

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated. And if anyone needs more info on my exact system or set up, let me know...

Thanks!

It sounds like you're overloading the USB headers, especially if they're all USB2.0.

Try lowering the resolution of all the cameras to see if it stabilizes.
