Hey Guys,

i have a hard time setting up the EOS M50 mk ii for OBS Studio.
I have already searched the internet and yt for a solution but it seems that nothing worked so far. Hope you guys can maybe help me
So my set up is:

EOS m50 mk ii
Camlink 4k
Obs studio (obvlsy)

so now the problem:
key is to get 4k quality into OBS, but for now i can only have the 4K output via the EOS Cam with USB and the EOS Utility software.

The Camlink is not detecting the Camera for some reason :(
and when i plug the cam via USB Cable into OBS it works, but the resolution is only 1074*566 or something.

thats basically where iam stuck right now :/

Thanks in advance
lord.

Have you tried troubleshooting OUTSIDE of OBS?
Does HDMI out of the m50 work to a monitor or TV?
Have you used another HDMI output device through the camlink to make sure it is working?
Have you RTFM on the appropriate settings required by the Camlink (I'm presuming such exist), and made sure the m50 is using those settings?
Have you tried seeing Camlink input in something other than OBS? My suggestion woudl be to use a native Windows app to see video from Camlink. Only once that is working, to try with OBS [not overlooking any Windows OS privacy/security settings required to make that Camlink visible to OBS

hey Lawrence,

i have :) for example via USB and the EOS Webcam Utitily it displays 4K Quality,
With HDMI the 4K output works on my TV without any problem too.
I managed to get now 1920-1080 via the Camlink but 4k Isnt working.

So i have a camlink 4k which says it can 4K25f maybe that could be the issue.

Are you absolutely sure of that? a quick search would appear to indicate the M50 Mark II has USB2.0 interface which isn't capable of outputting 4K, and the Canon EOS webcam FAQ references limits on resolution (typically 576p) and frame rate. And FAQ explicitly states 4K not supported
And you are using Canon's webcam v1.1 which added support for the m50 MII?
The Canon FAQ clearly states for higher video quality, use HDMI out.

You said 4K quality. It could be that your monitor re-scaling makes it look good, but once you compare to actual 4K content you'll probably notice the difference

And yes, if your M50 outputting HDMI at a higher framerate than Camlink can support... obviously a sync issue can crop up. Though dropping to 25fps isn't an unworkable scenario (match in OBS). Again, I'd make sure m50 thru camlink to OS is working, before moving onto OBS
