Question / Help Trouble streaming in 720p and recording in 1080p

On my old setup of standard OBS I would record in 720p but stream at 480p with no issue. On my new build using OBS Studio I've followed every setting and no matter what I do with a base canvas resolution of 1080p I can't get it to record in that resolution while down scaling the stream to 720p.

I've tried every combination of the downscale settings and still get 720p recordings. I'm thoroughly confused on the areas where I can rescale the output or downscale it.

Set your base resolution to 1920x1080
Set your canvas resolution to 1920x1080

Go to the Streaming section in the output tab.

Check the box that says 'Rescale Output'

Set the resolution next to the checkbox to 1280x720.

Done.

Do NOT check the rescale output in recording section. You want that to record to your canvas resolution.

Already tried that, tried again and didn't work again.

I attached my settings and VLC showing the resolution of the recorded file.

don't use stream encoder. This just takes the encoding from the stream and writes it to file. It doesn't encode it again..

If that doesn't work post a log

i had same problem...

here is solution: select (never write it manual into it) the lowest resolution in box. start stream. stop stream and then select 720p > try again and it worked
