Question / Help Treating Left and Right Stereo Channels Separately?

Hi all,

I would like to treat the left and right audio from the source separately (i.e. have them as two different audio sources in my OBS mixer). Does anyone know if this is possible and how I would go about splitting these? The goal is to be able to mute either L or R without muting both.

Many thanks in advance for any pointers!

Try this:

Under Settings > Audio, choose the same physical device for Mic/Aux 1 and Mic/Aux 2.

Then, in Settings > Advanced Audio Properties, fade Mic/Aux 1 all the way to the left, and Mic/Aux 2 all the way to the right.

That *might* give you the ability to treat the left and right channels of a single device as separate devices. But it's also possible that only one of the two will work at the same time; may depend on the device and driver used.

So, call me stupid, but I have a dual microphone device that supports both the TRRS and TRS standards, and I reckon a computer, specifically a Windows machine, running OBS, would be compatible with TRS mode??? Also, as relates to this thread, (which my following question is based upon) it has a setting whereby each microphone has it's own channel, for example, mic 1 is on left channel, and mic 2 is set up to be right channel, or vice versa, (it's a device setting), and I likely won't ever need it, but I'd like to know if this workaround would work for my specific theoretical use case??? I mean, the audio receiver device itself, during an audio test split the audio as expected, but somehow, the audio as recorded in my test recording, (even though it pings only 1 channel on the meter in obs during recording) somehow plays back as audio from both speakers... As asked before, just to reiterate the question and clarify it a bit, would the steps here work, or would there be an easier way, like for instance, certain steps here being needed, while others are not??? I'm just looking for a greater understanding of the audio setup possibilities of obs studio... (For reference, my device is a PicoStream picomic2 receiver(with 2 wireless charging mics)

Any USEFUL and CONSTRUCTIVE information would be greatly appreciated

I have tried to do a left and right fade, as suggested, and the mono thing, but it doesn't look like any of it's working

Nevermind on it not working (at least in other apps(tested in audacity)... I managed to get it working by opening my custom PCs Realtek Audio Console and turning off the stupid DTS Audio enhancement thing(which makes (what amounts to) joint stereo audio sound like mono audio, I guess... Now to see if it fixed OBS...

For anyone wondering, it appears to set both mics on a separate channel now,(in reciever, and heard on pc) without these steps even being needed, so, an important word of advice to anyone in the future, to save them my hours of headaches...

CHECK ANY WINDOWS AND MANUFACTURERS SOUND CONTROL PANELS FOR ANYTHING (like my fckn DTS Audio enhancement) THAT'LL MESS WITH YOUR DESIRED EFFECTS!!!
