Hi all, hope somebody can help?

Im a lifelong (25+ years) Macintosh user. Im fairly computer savvy, but a total novice when it comes to streaming, YouTube, Twitch, OBS, Elgato etc etc

I want to start streaming my gameplay on YouTube and bought an Elgato HD60S to do It. I have a MacBook Pro 2014, I no Its not great to use the HD60S with but It does work. However some of the features I was most interested with, overlays, adding of text, StreamLab notifications don’t currently work with Mac OS.

I was hoping It would be almost “plug and play” and as such It wasn’t.

I thought Id try It with OBS now this Is where I kind of sound a total amateur.

Ive searched hundreds of sites, read countless articles and watched more YouTube videos than I care to think about, but as a total novice I really need some help setting up my Mac with OBS so Its as best It can be and as lag free as I can get It! Ive been trying now for maybe 2-3 weeks and I must of scraped and restarted hundreds of times! Is there somebody that can point me in the direction to get help with set-up? Im at my wits end and get so down when I see these wiz kids on Twitch and YouTube streaming games and have donation counts, subscription counts, moving text banners and Im having trouble sorting my sources from my scenes. I really need somebody’s help with setting all this up, a bit like “OBS for dummies”. Sorry if this has been asked millions of times but as I said Im at my wits end and In need of help and patience.

Really hope there some one out there with help and bucket loads of patience!

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately Elgato doesn't provide Mac drivers that work with OBS, so you can't add the Game Capture HD as a video capture device. You'll have to run their software in fullscreen and capture the window instead. Support won't be added until Elgato releases proper drivers. A video tutorial is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO0zrNzDhVE

Yeah, while this is an option, you don't want to do this. The Elgato has a 2-3 second delay.

I returned my Elgato and bought a Magewell XI100USB-HDMI. Easy, peasy. Did exactly what I wanted it to.

OBS will do everything you want, ( overlays, adding of text, StreamLab notifications ), but Elgato is at fault for not making an OSX driver.
