Question / Help Tips for improving my stream?

Hey all. SO I've been messing around with this OBS and all my new streaming gear for the past week or so and I am starting to get the hang of it. Basically I thought I'd share some video and a log with you and ask you guys your opinions on how it looks and if there is anything I can do to make it look better. Oh, and my setup is with an Elgato hd60 Pro and I'm pumping a X1/PS4 into it so right now there's plenty of overhead in my cpu. No dedicated graphics card though.

While doing this last stream (my son was playing) I messed around with the bit rate. From 4500 to 3000 to 6000. It was very clear that the higher the bit rate the better the quality of the video. Is 6000 ok? I wasn't dropping any frames in obs and I wasn't skipping any frames while reviewing the feed on twitch so this should be ok right? I heard somewhere that 6000 is the limit if you want to make sure none of your viewers deal with any buffering issues.

So here's the video from twitch and the log. You can clearly see when I change the bit rates.Sorry the video is so long. The bit rate changes are near the end of the video.

Also the load on my cpu only seems to be getting up to around 19-20% Would putting more load on the cpu (since it's not doing anything else) improve the quality of the stream somehow?

Thank you all for taking the time to check this out!

if you really want to stream 1080p30 then you need 6k bitrate
then start lowering x264 presets to faster or fast. each step will put more load on cpu. monitor it and make sure it wont go past 90%

Thank you. I will try this. Can you explain what lowering the x264 preset actually does to make the stream better? And what kind of results can I expect by putting more load on the cpu?

Thank you for the reply!

encoder will spend more cpu time to compress image with more detail. so its better quality with higher cpu usage.
remember you are tuning for 1080p30 now. if you will want to go switch to 60fps it would be twice as demanding for cpu and also require 2x more bitrate.
check my calculator and you will catch how its all related

Just a side question. What kind of Internet speeds to people generally need to have to be able to view a stream that is broadcasting at a bit rate of 6000?

Great. So anyone that's got like 10mbps down should be fine.

Thanks for all the help. I'm gonna mess around with the cpu stuff tonight and see how it goes.
