Thumbnail for video cues

I'm playing videos through OBS with VLC.
But when the scene is selected for Preview, the screen is black.
Is there any way to add a preview? OBS or VLC maybe?

Put a Image source below the VLC Source, And put a Snapshot or Thumbnail or text label in the Image Source.
The VLC source does not play until the scene is active. The image source is on all the time.
So with the image below the VLC in the Preview window all you see is the Image/thumbnail.
But when the scene goes active in the program window the video starts and covers up the image/ thumbnail

Works great except when the video ends, VLC disappears and the thumbnail comes back. Is there a way to make the thumbnail disappear before the end of the video?

Found a solution: In properties, uncheck Show Nothing... which then stops on the last frame of the video.
