This is not a question but more so help for anyone that might need it.
Okay I was going crazy trying to figure out why my hotkeys weren’t working while playing my game (kinda the point of hotkeys in my opinion). I finally figured it out after trying the usual search results of “allow obs in input monitoring and accessibility” and “click never disable hotkeys in obs settings”. Hopefully this will help someone.
I had two versions of OBS downloaded. An Intel version and an apple silicon version. My Mac M1 pro was automatically opening the Intel version every time which wasn’t allowing me to use my hotkeys.
Here’s how I fixed it:
1. Click the apple icon in the top right > about this mac > more info > system report
2. In the sidebar scroll down to software and click it then click applications
3. Find OBS on the list. There will be a column named “Kind” If it’s says Apple Sillicon that is correct and this won’t help you. If it says Intel, you will need to delete it and redownload the Apple version. If you have both Apple Sillicon and Intel that is a problem. This is where I had two “OBS”.
4. Now if you have two versions of OBS, Click on the Intel version, follow the path location to get to where it is in your finder. I had to do something like “User > ‘my name’ > System > Library > Steam…” and so forth, it might be in a different location for everyone so I can’t help much there.
5. Once you locate that Intel file, be sure it’s the Intel one, then move that to a place you can easily find it. I moved it to my desk top in a folder called “Bad OBS”. Then put it in the trash and *MAKE SURE* you clear your trash or fully delete it or else the next step won’t work.
6. Make sure OBS is not open on your Mac, and that your good OBS(Apple Sillicon) is in a place you can easily access it like “Applications” or “Desktop” then go to Apple icon in top right > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility then if you already have OBS toggled on, delete it and readd it then toggle it on again. If not, then add it and toggle it on.
7. Do the same steps above except go into Input Monitoring instead of Accessibility.
Instead of step 6 & 7 you could
1. Go into Terminal and run :
tccutil reset Accessibility com.obsproject.obs-studio
tccutil reset InputMonitoring com.obsproject.obs-studio
(this method didn’t work for me so I did 6 & 7 instead)
8. Open OBS and try hotkeys
I hope this works for someone searching for this!!
