I am also having the same issue. Obs studio was working fine yesterday and now it's not working at all when trying to start streaming

And yes i restarted and reinstalled the pc and the Obs Studio :S

I don't suppose you're running OBS in any kind of virtual machine? I'm researching this error, and it's only come up a handful of times, one on a Linux machine and the other on a VM. It seems that something inside FFmpeg (which is what OBS uses for NVENC) is failing, but it's unclear the cause.

I am also having the same problem, which only started occurring after updating my NVIDIA driver. I went ahead and rolled back to the previous driver and I am able to record again.

Thanks for the info and the log. So far, it seems that only the 980 may be affected by this, due to a bug in the most recent nvidia driver. We're gathering more info and trying to find out for sure.

Hey Fenrir, has there been any updates to this problem? I'm still operating off the older driver, was wondering if I can update now.

The problem continues with the last controller 378.66, nobody find a solution?

Can you provide a new clean log? To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

Here is my log file. Same issue, I hit record and nothing happens. This is with ver. 378.66. Hope this helps.

Hi all,
I just wanted to give an update. I updated to OBS 18 and also to NVIDIA driver 378.66 and i am able to record without any problems using the NVENC encoder so it appears (at least for me) that the problem is resolved. Thanks for the help.

Was going to be my first suggestion to update the nvidia drivers. Glad it's working!
