Question / Help The Dreaded Black Screen Issue

I've tried so many of the ideas floating around out there, and I'm at a loss, so I am coming to you all. I'm using OBS to record some Morrowind footage, of all things. Starting out, I had crazy pixeling issues, and the orientation was all messed up. With the tweaks I needed to fix that - I'm left with the black screen issue. It seems to have something to do with AMD, given this line from the log:

[AMF] [H264]<Id: 9> <Plugin::AMD::EncoderH264::SetRateControlMethod> Failed to set to Latency Constrained Variable Bitrate, error AMF_NOT_SUPPORTED (code 10)

I attached the log for your reference. I'm so thankful this forum is full of such helpful people. :)

That error only occurred in the 2nd recording session in that log. Was the first one successful?

I should be more clear, I'm sorry. I was distracted earlier today. The first recording session gives me the black screen. I changed the encoder setting from x264 to x264AMD etc. That's what resulted in the error above.

OK. So that error has nothing to do with it. And if you're not even seeing a preview screen for your captured app, then your encoder selection is probably also not relevant.

Does the black screen capture happen only on OpenMW, or on any app?

Do Desktop (Display) and Window captures also result in black screen only?
