Question / Help System Audio sliders not affecting OBS?

Hello,

Looking for some help trying to control desktop audio. For some reason, OBS will record desktop audio at 100% regardless of what the system volume is set to and only accept changes made via the OBS slider. While this still works, it prevents me from being able to hear exactly what is being recorded/sent out.

Is there a setting/issue I am skipping that would allow changes made to the default device volume to affect OBS? Attached a snip of the settings. Volume Control for the computer is at 0 and can even by muted, but OBS will still record Desktop Audio.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also tried utilizing Voicemeeter to try and circumvent this, but the effect remains the same. Even with Voicemeeter set as the default and faders set to as low as possible, the sound being recorded by OBS is 100%.

Seems even OBS classic behaves the same. Is it just set up to capture the sound before it hits the system slider or just bypass it?

This is AFAIK just the way WASAPI (Windows Audio Session API) works.
This slider only affects the output volume for the device not the actual volume.

What you can do is turning down the volume for every application separately. That will work.

Ah, I see. Least that ends me freaking out about something being wrong. I appreciate the input, least now I can plan around that.
