Question / Help Support different filters for same video source [Feature request]

Hello, so currently it is impossible to use different filters with the same webcam.

There are 2 ways to handle this:
- Using a new video capture source for each scene, but the problem is that the webcam in the new scene (when you switch) will become deactivated for a lot of time (like 20-60 seconds), even if you uncheck "Deactivate when not showing"
-
Using the same capture source for all scenes. This will not deactivate the webcam but you will not be able to use different filters

Is there a way or a future support to correctly handle this? Because the only solution I see is to use two different webcams

My understanding is that there's something like this planned later down the line (OBS never has timelines), but I just tested an idea you could use in the meantime.

Scene 1: Contains Camera source
Scene 2: Contains Scene 1
Scene 3: Contains Scene 2 and all your other things

Then you can apply filters to scene 2, which would affect its contents, but not scene 1 or the camera source directly, allowing you to re-use it. For each re-use, you'd need to clone scene 2 and apply different filters to the new clone.

I do realise this could be considered a huge waste of scenes, but it's a temporary way around the problem.

Hi Wizard and thanks for your awesome workaround!

Thanks also for making me discover the scene source, which I had not tested and played yet. I'm now using it for other things as well, like a global overlay, perfect :)

hey i know this is an old post but i just joined this :) you can always just group the source on its own and apply the filters to the group, i use that and the scene within a scene style way if i want it global.

This is true, since this post we added source grouping and it can be used to perform the same trick, but this time with a new group each time.
