Question / Help Stuttering Footage & Weird Mic Sound

Hey everyone,

I've recently came across a problem while recording gameplay. For some reason I'm having my footage with stuttering and my microphone is having some problems that I can't quiet explain.

Here's my spec:
  • CPU: i7 5820k 3.3GHz / 6 Cores / 12 Threads
  • Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4
  • GPU: MSI Radeon RX 480 Armor 8GB OC
  • RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4 2133MHz 32GB (4x8GB)
With this spec I shouldn't have stuttering on my footage, specially If I don't feel it in the game being recorded. Could it be that I'm saving the recorded footage in .mkv then converting (using the Remux function) into .mp4?

The microphone issue is that, for some unknown reason it won't record the first letter that I talk and instead make a weird sound when recording the second letter. I can't really explain any better than this, sorry.

Here's a video where you can see both of those problems in action:

Microphone weird sounds: https://youtu.be/iLZueVJoQgU?t=11m54s

I would seriously appreciate some feedback because I want to improve my video quality and for some reason It's just decreasing...

No, that has precisely NOTHING to do with the issue.

The log you provided doesn't show a recording attempt.

The only reason why I said that it's because I've recorded straight into .mp4 and I didn't notice those stutters back then.

I'll attempt to record the same game in a moment and will make sure to upload that log.

Switch your recording preset to ultrafast.

Because you're using CRF based bitrate selection, the filesize will adjust rather than give you a quality loss.

Except that guide doesn't recommend the x264 preset you chose.

Yea, it does.

OBS-Studio: High quality recording and multiple Audio Tracks Guide said:
Setup advanced High Quality Settings
Now the interesting settings are in the lower section, but they depend on the selected Encoder:

x264
  • Rate Control: CRF
  • CRF: 15-25
  • CPU Usage Preset: can be lowered to superfast/ultrafast on high cpu usage

And, by the way, does anyone know what is the problem with the microphone and why sometimes it has the issue that I mentioned?

More cpu usage means your system is working harder.
Because you're using CRF, quality will be the same regardless.

I thought that If I put more resources into the recording it would help the process therefore not having those stutters while recording. But I'll give it a try at "ultrafast" as you mentioned.
