Question / Help Stuttering and frame drops when recording.

Hey!

I like to use OBS for primarily recording. It's a really great software for that with the noise gate and so on!

I've been attempting to record my native 3440 x 1440 resolution, not stream.

I have a GTX 980TI
a 3930k at 4.2 ghz
64 GB of DDR3 RAM
and Windows 10

However, no matter what FPS I try to record in, it records at 24-28 FPS. I use NVENC encorder, I've tried x264.

Currently I have it at NVENC, flv, and High Quality, Medium File Size. However, I get stutters and FPS drops all over. I am attempting 30 fps.

I am attempting with Dark Souls 3.

I am not sure if I am expecting too much -- I've seen recordings of people pulling it off with less hardware than mine. Is there something I am doing wrong, or do I just have unrealistic expectations? It appears to work with Shadowplay.

I do have GSYNC enabled.

Thanks. :)

G-SYNC this is a variable frame rate technology. By default, OBS Studio uses constant frame rate to capture. Try to disable G-SYNC. Also, you may be interested in this thread: obs 0.14.1 Dark Souls 3 stuttering stream/recording 59,94hz

Disabling G-SYNC didn't do anything, sadly.

Here's a log file! I'll take a look into the patch -- I think I'll also try recording GTA V at 3440 x 1440 and see what happens, maybe my system is too weak?

Yeah, appear to be having the same issue. I think I expect too much out of my system? :(
Could it be the harddrive I'm recording too?
it has 150 mb/s write speed

well if its sata hdd it should be ok
did you try recording with geforce experience? ingame resolution and 50k bitrate is an exact high setting in gfe. nvenc in obs tends to give me stutters in recording and framedrops in game but gfe works well
make sure you have write cache enabled on this hdd and select it as recording hdd in gfe
