Struggling with sound quality

Currently our church as an analog sound board. Which mixes everything for the room speakers and it does excellent. Currently we have run a XLR cable from one of the board outputs over to our live stream booth where it plugs into an amplifier and then converted further into USB-c for our iMac. For knowledge purpose, we use OBS for our streaming system.

The issue is the sound combination for our sanctuary definitely doesn’t work for our live stream. The blend of voices is lost when we come out directly from the sound board. Many of our musicians and instrumentalist want us to see what it takes to improve the only quality of sound.

What can we do to blend better for our live stream while not affecting the house sound? We have had some very nice donations towards this cause, so we are looking for the right thing not necessary a budgetary restricted bandaid.

Appreciate any advice.

Hi JBdebaets :

The house and streaming audio typically need different treatments from your mixer. There are always acoustics to be considered with the house mix that typically don't apply to other applications. Although I would suggest trying to keep the Streaming mix authentic, most mixers have Aux Out channels for providing slightly different stage monitor mixes for different musicians. We use a stereo Aux Out pair from our digital StudioLive32 and feed it to our OBS streaming computer digitally via USB. It allows OBS to have its own mix separate from the house mix in addition to separate equalization. We also do this for the guitar, drums, choir floor monitors, and audio assist transmission. Hope this helps.
