Hi everyone,

We're looking for some urgent help. We use streamlabs / twitchalerts and 8/10 times when we get a sub or donation our OBS Studio crashes. Its having a major issues with our viewing numbers as people leave when you suddenly go offline. The only way to stop the crashes is to remove or hide the source - however its not really a solution since on screen alerts are crucial also.

Here is the log any solution would really help -

Looks like a crash inside the Chromium Embedded Framework, which means that it might be fixed in a future update of the plugin.

I don't think reinstalling the same broken libcef version will do anything. Maybe try an older OBS Studio version and see if it works there - or wait until an obs studio update includes a newer Browser Source plugin.

Rolled back to 0.16.4 and its still crashing. Am I the only one getting this bug? Its a pretty big dam crash - I can't use any alerts ..lol.

Have you reached out to the streamlabs folks? They're better positioned to determine what might be causing this. You're not the only one who has been having issues recently with streamlabs/twitchalerts, but browser source hasn't really changed in several OBS versions so it's unlikely that browser source is the direct cause.

Is there OBS support on the weekends?

Also, just FYI there really isn't any official "OBS Support."

We're all community members answering questions as we have free time. Nobody is paid to be here :)

Yeah reached out to @Jamacanbacn Last message from him was "Can you put http://www.whatbrowser.org into your browser source?" and our reply was "Chrome 51".

Can you see anything off in the logs? I've checked that we have all the latest windows updates etc and everything is coming back fine. We went live and got 3 donations and 4 resubs. After each alert, the alert half loads and then obs crashes.

Under what circumstances can you reproduce this? Does it only happen when actually streaming or can it happen when previewing the browser source too?

Does it only crash when there are specific contents in the alert? (e.g. custom image, sound, fonts etc). If you can reproduce the crash on demand, try rolling back to the stock StreamLabs alerts and seeing if it still crashes. It it doesn't, then try slowly building up your custom alert testing each element as you go to find out what specific item causes the crash. If it isn't something specific causing the crash (e.g. the stock StreamLabs ones breaks it too), then I'd suspect the problem is more likely something to do with your system (e.g. funky version of a dll that libcef depends on?)

Presumably if you load up the alerts in chrome itself there are no problems there? In terms of a temp fix you could consider using Window Capture with the alerts open in chrome, though setting up the chroma could be a pain.

Good news, alerts are fixed. Bad news is the sounds blip on and off. What a nightmare. Tried 0.16.5 and 0.16.6 and the sounds are still blipping. Dont really know what to do next.

New logs for the audio issue could be useful. Presumably the streaming box has been rebooted in an attempt to fix this? Windows audio can be a little funky sometimes.

Can you try using 64-bit OBS-Studio? Logs shows using 32 bit with a lot of things in the scene. 32 bit is limited to 4 GB memory, and may crash with too many things in the current scene collection.

I've backed up the appdata and did a complete windows reformat to remove an idea of a windows corruption.

Happy to say it looks like the trouble is over. I've updated windows and restored all the appdata and wallah back to normal. I can only put the issue down to a corrupt windows and since its only my streaming PC along with the quick appadata restore it was a quick process.

@sam686 Thank you for the suggestion I completely forgot - The reason I used* 32bit was because 2 Logitech webcams weren't compatible on the same USB host controller and would more likely crash on 64bit than 32bit but I fixed that issue 2 weeks ago so I've been testing out 64bit version this morning and works great.

Can't see any other topic with my issues so for anyone else who gets this issue of browsersource crashes or blips in their sound - reformatting windows clears the issue and is actually quicker than trying to find a 'fix'.

Cheers guys
