Streaming to YouTube triggers "Precondition check failed" error

This only happens if I have used the "Connect account" option to connect my YouTube account to OBS, and then try to create a broadcast. If I use a stream key instead, it works just fine. Reconnecting my YouTube account did not make any difference.

Interestingly, the broadcasts are actually being created on YouTube every time I press either "Create broadcast" or "Create broadcast and start streaming" on OBS.

The error pop-up links to https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/live/docs/errors but there is no mention of this "Precondition check failed" error, and googling didn't bring me anything related to streaming in general.

I hadn't streamed in some months before attempting to yesterday and getting this error, so it's hard to say when this started happening.

Here's the current log, although it doesn't really say much beyond the same error message: https://obsproject.com/logs/3rymjvyhKfzPfnMN

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Using stream keys is okay but it was definitely more convenient to be able to set up a broadcast from OBS directly.

Hi, not that this helps but I have also just encountered this issue and I was streaming a few days back. Everything you've described above is what I'm getting.
I updated OBS to the latest version, disconnected YouTube from OBS and reconnected accounts and updated my PC but nothing worked.

Right there with you... Just spent an hour trying to get around this error, tried everything, direct from Youtube, stream key, connect account. I even uninstalled OBS, restart PC, download and reinstall. restart PC, reconnet both through OBS and via Stream Key... nothing works. And now I'm having a Panic / Stress Attack because of this. I can't stream. I just had to put out a video so all my viewers etc now why I'm not streaming.... until this gets resolved. #autistic this has RUINED me today,

Following... having the exact same issue. I've tried updating OBS Studio, checking for Windows updates, disconnecting and reconnecting the YouTube account... nothing. Streaming via the Stream Key works, but not through connecting the account through OBS studio. Using Windows 10.

Go to settings and applications on your phone, find YouTube and clear the cache.
The problem disappears.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm not using a phone. I'm on a Windows 10 computer. And judging from the forum topic location "Home Forums OBS Studio Support Windows Support", I'm going to suspect that everyone else is using Windows too.

I actually tried that just on the off chance that my phone's cache was somehow affecting something in my YouTube account (really can't see how, but whatever), but as expected there was no difference at all.

ok, so this may or may not be a new bug. I hadn't updated anything on my Windows 10 PC prior to this issue as I was away over the weekend and my stream on Friday worked fine. Logically then it's something YouTube has changed and not OBS. Need to find a solution asap!

For now, only what you can do - create your translation on Youtube Studio for decoders, open OBS and choose your created stream. It's actually work

Ok, update I have found a workaround for me and I'm not sure if it'll work for you all and I don't know why it worked buuuuuut......
when I click in OBS to "Manage Broadcast" and the pop screen appears, I deleted my (previously working fine) Thumbnail picture I was using for my stream and left it blank and it all worked as before. I then tried using the previous thumbnail and also a completely different one and it failed to work again. Removed thumbnail and again it was back to working. I can always add it in again after the stream has ended though. Let me know if this works for you please.

Thanks Haggis, this worked for me. Once I cleared the thumbnail it connected every time. Changing the thumbnail didn't fix the issue, only removing the image. This last update might have a little explaining to do... :D

Yes, I'm streaming on a computer with Windows 10, but this error is from YouTube, I use YouTube on my phone to watch various content when I'm away from home.
I cleared the cache on my phone in the YouTube application and my problem on my computer disappeared.
