Hey OBS Forums!

So when i stream on mac, I put my audio output to sound flower 2ch in my mac settings which you are supposed to do for the obs to catch sound from the elgato (desktop noise). Doing this makes my mac mute and you cannot hear sound yourself on 2ch. I was wondering how I would be able to let the obs get audio from el gato itself instead of my whole computers audio?

Hey @Soo Kxrma!

I have two possible answers that may satisfy your question:

1) Using Soundflower (2ch), you COULD hear your desktop sound, Elgato included. To do so, you would open the Soundflowerbed application that comes with Soundflower. A little flower icon will appear at the top of your Mac. Click on it, choose Soundflower (2ch), and choose where you want to hear the sound, which would likely be built-in output.

2) If you want to direct sound to OBS from your Elgato instead of your whole computer, you'll need to choose Soundflower (2ch) in OBS and use a program called Audio Hijack Pro ($14, I believe). There might be a free alternative out there. You should be able to choose the application (Elgato), click on Effects, and add a 4fx effect > Auxiliary. You'll then choose Soundflower (2ch) as output. You'll click on "Hijack" and all audio from the Elgato should be routed to Soundflower (2ch).

Personally, option #1 is easier, costs less, and isn't much of a pain. #2 is a little more technical.
