Question / Help Streaming from AWS 2016 Windows Server, how to capture browser source audio?

I'm trying to set up a dedicated streaming server that can stream music to Youtube. I'm using a 2016 Windows Server that I got from AWS free tier. The only playback device that I seem to be able to use is Remote Audio which is disabled or deleted once my remote connection to the VPS ends. Is there any way to create a virtual speaker of some sort or just any way to capture browser audio without audio devices on Windows servers?

Log file is attached, although I'm not sure it's needed.

you have to connect via vnc or teamviewer or something like that, not via rdp

Wouldn't the audio device still be removed once I disconnect from the server?

a vnc server doesn't create a audio device, so you will have no audio device or it will work.

Ah I see, I just found an article on superuser that also says this. Do you know of any virtual audio cables or devices that work on this server because I think I tried installing a couple but even though I got the install audio device prompt, it didnt show up in playback devices, even after a system restart.

OBS is not made to run on virtual machines like yours. You neither have a real GPU nor real audio devices OBS relies on, but only emulations. You cannot install drivers in a virtual machine. From my point of view, you're wasting your time by trying to make OBS run on that machine. In the end, after much fiddling, you might get something running, but not reliably, and not with the quality and performance you want.

So far the quality of the stream Im running works really well (Im only running at 1 fps because it doesnt need to update much and 2500kb/s). CPU is running at about 30% constantly. The only thing stopping me from doing this is the audio device problem which I can definitey see OBS not working with on a VPS.

you could try it with virtual audio cable to create a virtual audio device and bind your application to it if there is no audio device while using vnc.

I am extremely interested to see if you make headway on this. I am in a similar position but I have set up a Windows 2016 Data Centre with 8cores and 1 Nvdia GPU on AWS. I have the grunt but have encountered a number of hurdles. I am trying to get the webcam / sound from the client to the server. Using OBS to stream a game to Twitch from the server. Will OBS be stable on the Windows 2016 server or is it battle I can never win?

I'm about to get a VPS with Windows Server 2016. Anything important I need to know regarding running OBS on this?

I'm a newbie so any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

p.s. Did you guys find a workaround for the audio issue?

The most important thing you need to know about running obs on a VPS at all is to NOT DO IT.

The amount of hassle required to get it working is not worth the effort, and the procedure is NOT supported.

Actually I already bought the VPS Server and installed OBS without any issues and streaming is fine. I don't really need audio for my stream so it's not an issue for me.
