Question / Help Stream Stuttering! [NDI Plugin]

I'm currently using the NDI plugin for my two PC streaming setup. I've managed to remove the issue of lagged frames by turning on v-sync in game and my preview on OBS on my gaming PC which now seems smooth and fluid, however on the streaming PC side of things the preview and stream stutter and is not smooth what so ever.

What occurs and have tried:
  • Streaming CPU only reaches a max of 60%
  • Streaming PC has no skipped frames when streaming
  • Have tried changing the resolution and fps (900p at 60fps | 900p at 30fps | 720p at 60fps | 720p at 30fps)
  • Internal connection is 100% Gigabit connected
  • Changed the cables three times
Any solutions and suggestions on how to overcome this issue would be highly appreciated. Also if there is an alternative solution to not using the NDI plugin or a capture card I would love to hear about it, especially if it provides better results.

Stream PC Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600x
HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4 RAM 2666MHz
256GB Kingston SSD
GTX 760

NDI is pretty much the best option here.

Posting a Log of gaming + streaming Machine would be a great start.

Concerning your problem with your streaming PC, make sure to provide log files. I had the same issue but somehow managed to fix the streaming pc issue but i cant remember how right now, there was so much i fiddled around with. Maybe i can remember when looking at the log files.

Yeh sorry thought I had uploaded them. Here you go!

I think I might have found the issue, but its not certain: You are outputting 720p on your gaming PC before sending it over via NDI to your streaming pc but your streaming pc seems to have a
base resolution: 1600x900
output resolution: 1280x720

try changing the base resolution to 1280x720p too on your streaming pc (might have to readjust your sources). Because what is happening right now is that your sending a 720p signal over to your streaming pc that has a resolution of 1600x900 and outputting it again at 1280x720 (seems unnecessary). those values should be identical on your streaming pc.

Oh wait, that was an older value you used. Okay, try this:

Gaming PC:
base resolution: 1920x1080
output resolution: 1280x720

Streaming PC:
base resolution: 1280x720
output resolution: 1280x720

I did what you said and set the base and output resolution of my streaming PC to 1280x720 and my gaming PC to output 1280x720 and there seems to be a slight difference however the issue is still occurring unfortunately.

Here is my stream VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/228687255 (Skip to 5 mins for Gameplay)

You can tell at some parts it jitters a bit but then for a good 10+ seconds its smooth.

That does look smooth if you ask me! Other than that i cant really see whats going on.

So I made a bit of a discovery regarding those lost frames.

In a two system setup I was getting major frame drops on the incoming NDI connection. The OBS monitor on the giving side appeared smooth, but the receiving OBS was far from it. The odd solution was to Minimize a browser window i had set to monitor my Twitch broadcast. Not Close, just Minimize, sometimes even tab away from a video playing window. Although i bet closing works too.

My advice if your having the OBS-NDI frame loss issue is to go through your windows and minimize them until you locate the one causing the stutter by being active.

Thats not odd, Twitch uses 10% GPU usage which you need if you are running OBS on the gaming PC.
