What's x264 and what settings should i put on it? Someone told me to use my GPU instead of my CPU because my CPU is trash, i'm using a i5 4590 and a RX 480

AMF offers the worst quality when it comes to streaming. x264 is your CPU and it does the best quality. Use your CPU for streaming and use around 2000-3000 kbps. Troubleshooting is the best way for getting the best results.

Whoever told you that your CPU is trash is a moron. Try it with x264 and if you have trouble post a log.

As to where that is: Settings->Output->(various tabs and whatnot)->Encoder: Set to x264 instead of AMF.

I'm just not sure what cpu preset to put it at, they said that my i5 4590 is not meant for streaming... @c3r1c3 and @RYAM77 https://gist.github.com/aa225f72e12d23633bd3b96311cedf70
Dude just even the x264 simple default is better than AMF. Anyways the default = VeryFast cpu preset which is actually easy going for your cpu, you can test faster or fast(the lower the harder it uses your cpu, as in going lower its higher quality) if you want / you have to test a local recordings or streams until you are satisfied(if you see any freezing / stutters ... losen the preset as if you were at fast go up to faster.. if same on faster then go with veryfast etc...). My suggestion stay simple / veryfast.

Also make sure that Game mode and the GameDVR are disabled in Windows 10.

From OBS' official factoid: The Windows 10 CU added a new Game Mode option which causes issues more often than it helps. It is recommended to disable it when using OBS. See here for how to disable: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-disable-game-mode-windows-10-creators-update

Other then that, looks like you're running well.

as to the different downscale options, they are different ways of scaling the image down. I would say use Lanczos in general and only change it if you have a particular need.
