Today's stream, if needed
https://www.twitch.tv/legendairyjoe/v/94295401

Hi there. This is my first ever time posting here on the forums so I am not familiar with the required information for such a thread, but hope that I can provide a rough idea and that you guys can help em out along the way.

So, I have been on Twitch for 3+ months now and the norm of pixelation in ones stream has plagued me ever since. I play games such as RS6, Evolve and Warframe but experience heavy pixelation on Warframe the most.

I changed my FPS from 60 to 30 to test it out tomorrow stream, and was going to change my Bitrate/Buffer Size to 3000 each.

I am looking to stream Battlefield 1/Skyrim Remastered/Dsihonored 2 in the next month and was wondering what i should change my settings to.
If there is anything else that is required of me then I will report back ASAP with the information.

Thank you for your time, and I hope that I can at least fix the pixelation to a minimum.

what's your x264 preset?

im using medium at 1280x720@60 - my i7-4790k can handle this, even with complex images.

the better your cpu, the better preset you can use, the less blocks/pixels you will see.

720p 30fps 2500kbps or 616p 45fps 2500kbps without transcoding

720p 45fps 3500kbps with transcoding.

YW.

Edit: base resolution: 1280x720

Wait what? Do you play in 720p? Is it because you have a specific problem?

I have no specific problem, it is just the pixelating. I can handle 1280x720@60 but it doesn't look nice. I now have it running at 1280x720@30 and it looks a loot clearer as a result. 2200 Buffer/bitrate is pretty damn good

Your output stream resolution doesnt have to be your base resolution but your game resolution. Go for 1920x1080, even higher if you want, whith the max fps you can have ingame, no worries.

If you want to have a decent 720p 60fps for high cam movement games (CSGO Overwatch Rocket League) you need at least 4500kbps.

The lack of quality was simply caused by the fact that you were trying to send to many 720p frames each second (60) for the bitrate you had.

So what should i put my settings to in order for a decent stream on Battlefield 1? Like bitrate, buffer, resolution, FPS etc...

That's easy.

Output Settings - Set to Advanced on the top, Encoder set to x264, Bitrate as high as you can handle (3500 at max if you can, Twitch has upgraded their servers so the amount of people who buffer has been cut down by a lot), Rate Control of CBR, KeyFrame of 2, CPU Preset Fast, Profile of High, Tune set to Animation.

Video Settings - Base Resolution of 1080p, Output resolution of 720p, Lanczos Downscaling Filter, 60 FPS

Advanced Settings - YUV Color Space of 709, YUV Color Range Full

I used to have a setup similar to yours and that's what I could handle easily, hope it helps.

I'll try these out tomorrow, cheers. I never thought of fiddling around with all of the other settings thinking that they would actually benefit me. Also, the 3500 Bitrate shoots my dropped frames on OBS through the roof. Hits like a 30% rate seconds after hitting the stream button. So i put this down to 2500 and no frames were dropped. Hope these settings help, though.

Cheers! :P

I'm on a wireless adapter connection with the ethernet cable in my PC from the adapter. This could be the reason why anything abovel 2500 makes my frames go crazy. Would 2500 still make the stream look good, or?

Also could I ask what does turning profile to high, tune set to animation , and YUV to color full do to improve the stream? Those were always turned on at "none" before

Battlefield 1 at 3500kbps 720p 60fps? Thats a definitive no. Period. As I said dont go higher then 45 fps at 3500kbps for a game with a lot of cam movement (and I could add with all the screen constantly moving, like all FPS, unlike a lot of MOBAs where the full screen doesn't move that often).

Sonic512 doesnt realise that he is screwing his output quality with this settings. You dont believe me? Check written text (like HUD or kill feed) when you move a lot and you will see the damage you are doing. Even your crosshair will become a mess of pixels.

DONT GO TO 3500kbps! Period. Wait until you have the transcoding first, it wont take long.
