hello i don't know what to search for this specific problem.

im playing fortnite on 1440x1080 and the game feeling is good. but when i turn obs on it's getting laggy even tho im not streaming atm. if i switch my resolution to 1920x1080 there's no lag at all ingame when i have my obs open or streaming. when i try to stream on streched res (1440x1080) the stream looks fine and the viewers have told me that it looks fine with no problem at all. but for me the game feeling is shit. if i turn the stream down from 60 fps to 30 then the game feels fine but then the stream looks crappy and if i turn it up to 60 fps again stream looks good but igame feels crappy again.

what to do?
yeah i know i can just stream on 1920x1080 but i want to play on 1440x1080 and stream on the same time without any game issues

OBS needs resources to run. It renders frames even if it's not streaming or recording. Whatever frame size and frame rate you'll be able to run a game at without OBS running, if you are pushing your GPU as hard as you can, launching OBS will cause your GPU to overload.

You'll see the effects even when you're not streaming, although OBS won't write the entries to the log unless you start a recording or streaming session. If you do that, look for entries that mention "rendering lag".

Commonly this is caused by running Display Capture in the same scene as Game Capture. Don't run both in the same scene, create a separate scene for Desktop or don't use it.

Desktop Capture in general causes the game to Vsync with DWM, so it causes games to Sync as if they are Borderless Fullscreen, uncapped but synced to 60Hz.

So don't use it to capture games running in Fullscreen, where the input lag is more noticeable.
