Stream fails but OBS carries on as normal but then can't stop stream

I keep having a problem when streaming where the connection seems to die but OBS doesn't report it, I only notice because I have twitch open in another window and the channel goes offline. When I then try and stop the stream in OBS it just hangs saying it's stopping the stream and recording (I record at the same time as streaming). I exit OBS via the menu and it warns me I still have a stream running but I exit anyway. The OBS symbol remains in the notification part of the taskbar and I have to go into the task manager and stop any OBS processes manually to get it to fully quit. This usually happens about 1hr 30m-2hrs into a stream but I've also recently streamed for nearer 3hrs and it didn't happen. Nothing obvious is showing up in the logs and I'm pulling my hair out a bit. Any help would be appreciated
