I'm simply trying to record demonstrations of Word techniques using screen capture, plus a title screen and a demonstration for students showing how to use Alt+Tab to switch between applications, i.e., my Word demonstration and a document in which the student tries out what I'm demonstrating before we go on. Four more hours of watching video tutorials (almost all of which are consumed with streaming and all sorts of things I don't need -- hint, hint for simple recording tutorials) and following guides, has gotten me no closer, so I'm back here. I haven't even gotten to audio yet.
Here's my set-up: I have two scenes: Title screen and Desktop capture.
In the first, I have two sources: The title screen itself (a 1920x1080 jpeg) and Window Capture (more below). In the second scene, I have Title screen as well, and Display Capture to show my desktop, which will be a full-screen Word document. The Window capture in the first scene would be a different Word document, used for the Alt+Tab demo.
I want my recording to start with the title screen; then allow me to switch from that to an open Word document and back again using the Alt+Tab command (captured as video, showing the icon dialogue; then switch to capturing another Word document in which I will be doing the main demonstration. This will be the same for a series of classes.
Problem 1: When I try to add a window capture, the dialogue opens, but even when I select the desired, open Word document, all I see is the infinite loop of OBS UI. I accept and close the dialogue, but if I hide the Title screen source in that scene, I just get a black rectangle, no word document (failed Window capture).
Problem 2: In the Desktop capture scene, when I hide the Title screen source, I get the infinite loop until I minimize OBS to the Windows taskbar. Therefore, I can't figure out any way to keep OBS's infinite loop out of my class. If I minimize OBS while the Title screen is still selected, I can start recording, but then I need a way to perform the ALT+TAB demo and then switch directly to the Word Demonstration document. I don't seem to be able to configure hotkeys to do this.
I'm sure this is child's play for an experienced user, and dearly hope someone reading this will create a clear video tutorial that can be found easily. Thank you very much for you help.
