OBS developers have a strict policy to ensure that OBS remains free and without paid features (microtransactions and paid DLC). However, I think they would like to be able to add some backgrounds or emojis to the Steam store, as well as make some badges for their project in Steam.
Therefore, I propose my idea, which will allow you to add all the above-described features to OBS + maintain the policy of no paid content.
Here's my idea: To the very depths of the OBS settings, where literally no one goes, make an inconspicuous "support developer" button, with the smallest possible donation amount (most likely it will be $0.03). Steam will consider this as the presence of a donation in the game, so it will be possible for users to craft badges and purchase backgrounds/emojis in the store, but at the same time, an users will not even know that there is a donation in the program, because they will not be able to find this donation button. And even if someone manages to find this button, let's be honest, this is not a donation, but literally "developer support"
Of course, I'm not a software developer, and I don't know how all this works or how difficult it really is to pull it off, but it seems to me that this is literally the only way to add new features to steam.
Well, that's my whole idea. I hope it will be useful to someone.
P.S. - In an old Steam discussion for OBS form 2022, I saw one of the developers would like to have Steam store items in OBS, but he didn't know how to add them without introducing donations/paid DLCs
