Question / Help Startech Video Capture Component to USB

I purchased a Startech SVID2USB23 adapter to connect my camera to OBS Studio. OBS will not recognize this adapter in the Video Capture Device. I have read that there are some of these devices that will not work with OBS Studio. Can anyone tell me if the AVer or Elgato adapters will work with OBS? If this will not work can someone tell me how to connect my component camera to my Mac which does not have anything other than USB and Thunderbolt ports?

Most likely this adapter works on MacOS only with their supplied software and does not come with a video device driver. Does the device show up as an option in other programs that support webcams, like Skype or FaceTime?

It is not showing up in either of the other programs that you mentioned.

I was able to use the Elgato Video Converter by installing the Elgato Video Capture program and running it while using the windows capture to show the video from my camera.

If it doesn't show up in OBS, FaceTime or Skype, then there's no MacOS video device driver for it and you'll have to use software that comes with it and window capture.

Elgato advertises its hardware as "compatible with MacOS" and "compatible with OBS" without clarifying that it is not "compatible with OBS on MacOS" because there's no device driver.
