Question / Help Start/Stop Stream Hotkey not always working

Perhaps this has been discussed however if it has I have not been able to find anything regarding it. I have OBS Studio which works really well for me. However I have set a hotkey for the start stop stream and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. No indicators as to when it will work or won't. I have tried numerous different hotkeys combinations and single keys and yet the same result. I would be interested in hearing anything that might help fix this issue.

I would try another keyboard and see if you get the same result. Also a different USB port.

What encoder are you using and are you recording as well (with the same encoder)?

The encoder is x264. I am only using the stream hotkey. No record. I have tried other keyboards and ports. The problem still exists

Run obs as admin.

Always run as Admin. The other thing that I have notice is once you start the stream and stop it. If you then go to the hotkey section under settings the Start stream hotkey is not listed there. I have tried a few fresh installs and still the same result. However I can always stream with the button. It's just the hotkey that doesn't always work.

This happens to me too. I have taken the habit to alt-tab out of the game while I'm recording to check if a file for the recording has actually been created. Too many times before doing this I lost footage because I pressed the button but the recording hadn't started.

Some sort of on-screen visual indicator to let you know if you're recording would really be appreciated. I wouldn't mind an FPS counter like FRAPS in a corner with different colors to tell you if you're recording or not.

I am hera because the same happens to me! I always execute as Admin, but I have to hit Record Manually and AFTER that, it works again. Weird issue.
