Question / Help Sources and Plugins

Hi all,

I just want to start off by saying, I love OBS for mac, its extremely simple and its my preferred way to stream to twitch.

Now, onto my question.

Currently, mac OBS users do not have an option to add an image as a source. As a twitch streamer, I want to be able to have some sort of overlay, and that is done obviously by using a picture. When can we expect an update with more available sources?

I also want to be able to install different plugins to enhance my streams. When can I expect, if at all, plugins to be accepted by mac OBS?

I understand that OBS for mac is in its early stages. It would be nice if I could have a time-frame of when to expect updates so I know if I have to buy a different streaming studio similar to OBS.

Thanks!

Make sure you update to 0.4.0, which has image source support.

OBS for Mac will eventually have the same functionality as the current version of OBS for Windows, and will eventually surpass it. However, it will take time, and we can't give a time estimate. Just be patient as we continue to develop the software.

  • Add localization to all plugin modules in addition to the UI (Jim)
Does this mean we can use plugins built for OBS or is this a different term for plugin?

OBS Multiplatform will not be able to support old OBS plugins due to having a new plugin API. That note is regarding localization (translation) of existing plugin modules in OBS Multiplatform. A lot of the core features of the new OBS are really just plugins behind the scenes, so all the text in the UI needed to be translated.
