Source video not appearing

I read the "Sources Guide", but no luck.
I have a Hauppauge 1414 Colossus capture card installed in my PCI Express slot. It's connected to a VCR playing a VHS tape.
If I use the "Hauppauge Capture" bundled software (which is garbage) I can see the video playing.
When I close Hauppauge Capture and open OBS, I can see "Hauppauge" in the Sources box with a "video capture device" icon, but no video playing.
I've tried starting and stopping the vcr, restarting the computer, deleting and re-adding the video capture device, and tinkering with the properties.
I have a second Hauppauge card installed, a tv tuner, that's not showing up either. I don't care about that other than the thought that it might be a problem?

tl;dr Why won't my VCR stream record?? Please advise.

Probably something wrong at the settings of the Video Capture Device. Could you share those?

The properties? They are the defaults. See attached.

I'm not an expert at this, but you could try to set:
  • Resolution/FPS Type = Custom
  • Resolution = 1280x720 (your output resolution)
Besides that, according to the OBS Log Analyzer: OBS is running on an Intel integrated GPU. This hardware is generally not powerful enough to be used for both gaming and running obs. Situations where only sources from e.g. cameras and capture cards are used might work.

Hauppage devices are terrible things.
Many require custom workarounds to function in any software other than their own proprietary suite; IIRC OBS removed these some years ago.
I'd recommend (if possible) grabbing a $20 "cantlink" USB 2.0 HDMI Video Capture instead off eBay, with an analog->HDMI upscaler if your VCR doesn't have HDMI output.
