Source: Copy & Duplicate/Refer

Hi,

when I copy a source (like a lower 3rd) and want to duplicate it, i have 2 options: duplicate or insert a reference to the copied source.
I want a duplicate to be able to edit it and leave the original untouched. For whatever reason this does not work. When I change the text in the original lower 3rd, the duplicate is affected too and vice versa.
Where is my mistake?

add it to an group and edit the group ! so the filters and the changes are only on the group not on the source !
