Source Alignment Snapping weirdness?

Hi there,

I'm trying to align sources (in this case a couple of images) to one another. I've got Source Alignment Snapping turned on in the preferences but it seems that the only way you can snap sources together is by snapping their sides directly to one another so they are literally butted one up against the other.

Is there no way to snap so that if you have them side by side you can align the top or bottom edge or when they are one on top one beneath then you can align the side edges?

Snapping just seems to be very limited and to be honest at the moment fairly useless? Unless I'm missing something obvious of course?

Thanks for any help with this.

"No comment" on the snapping. I work around it by using the Edit Transform and (usually) changing the Positional Alignment to 'Center.' Once you've done that you can just copy-paste the relevant 'Position' values to make sure your sources are perfectly aligned. It's not ideal, but it's not frustration & unpredictable either.

Thanks for that. Yep same sort of thing I'm doing at the moment. Really wish the snapping worked the way it works in nearly every single graphics application out there though. Would help save soooo much time!! Ah well, I can hope I guess?

Many thanks,

You're welcome. It's a bit tedious, there are only so many ways to position sources on the canvas, so to save time, I make "container-scenes" (since groups doesn't work very well) and position them however I want, then they can be used and reused with any sources by just using show/hide in that container.

A built-in graphics editor on Preview in Studio mode would be really nice, especially if it supported svg as an alternative to the 'Color Sources.' I'm not going to complain though, because, well--at least it works. :-)
