I have a 3 camera setup and I'd like to record every single camera audio signal for post production.
Every camera is connected with its own Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 to a notebook and the setup works.
One of the major problems is with sound coming from multiple cameras with HDMI connection. HDMI is the way the cameras are connected to OBS.
Problem:
Audio is not being transfered continuously, it suddenly turns off from one camera after a while, the other two stay visible in mixer, audio level meter is showing operation.
To be able to record audio from the cameras (through Intensity Shuttle) I added Shuttle's audio output as a "Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device" in OBS settings for every camera.
OBS settings -> Audio:
Mix/Auxiliary Audio Device -> Input (2-Blackmagic Audio)
Mix/Auxiliary Audio Device 2 -> Input (3-Blackmagic Audio)
Mix/Auxiliary Audio Device 3 -> Input (4-Blackmagic Audio)
(If you wonder why the first is starting with "2", I have a 4th Intensity Shuttle being my preview box from inside Adobe Premiere. This device would simply be called "Blackmagic Audio", and it is for preview only, connected to my TV, but it doesn't work as a preview device with OBS yet. Would it soon?)
It would be obviously better, if you could simply route every audio signal from cameras to one of the four audio recording tracks available. But at the moment the behavior of OBS is, when a camera not being shown the audio level meter is being hidden inside mixer (and I would like to know if audio is then turned off as well?).
It would be best, if all currently connected sources with audio signals, stay in Mixer, even if they are not shown in program monitor, to get continuously recorded audio without interruption.
Sometimes audio signal from one camera is not present in Mixer, I'm not sure whether the audio is really lost or the level meter simply doesn't work, because all the cameras have the same audio (on-board mic) at the moment in testing stage.
Workaround:
The workaround at the moment is to go into settings, change the "Mix/Aux Audio Device" entry from that camera, press OK, go back into settings, change the "Mix/Aux Audio Device" entry back to the right Blackmagic Audio and it is sounding back again. Obviously not good for live streaming. After doing that workaround, the setup seems to run good for hours.
In settings -> output -> Audio:
I have setup Track 1 as SUM, because Track 1 is the one that is being streamed as well
Track 2 -> CAM1
Track 3 -> CAM2
Track 4 -> CAM3
Hope you understood what I mean.
